Funded by the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the Climate Fund Accelerator (CFA) supports low-carbon businesses in improving investment readiness by connecting investors, public partners, and local institutions. Operating in ten countries, CFA promotes locally led climate mitigation solutions across various sectors.

This year, CFA is launching its India program, focusing on three key priority sectors: energy transition, electric mobility, and sustainable cooling. Additionally, Water & Wastewater, Waste & Circularity, and Climate Smart Agriculture are designated as sub-priority sectors.

 India’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) sets ambitious climate goals, including a commitment to reduce emissions intensity of GDP by 45%, and achieving 50% of installed power capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030.

Energy Transition is a key focus, with India being ranked fourth globally in the total renewable energy installed capacity. The recent 4 edition of India Energy Week highlights the sector’s importance, bringing together key sector stakeholders to address energy challenges amid rapid growth and climate urgency.

Aligning with this, CFA India will be launching its call for proposals inviting revenue-generating businesses and projects beyond the feasibility stage, with a particular focus on the above-mentioned priority and sub priority sectors. High-potential applications from other sectors are also encouraged. Applicants must be investment-ready, seeking a minimum of USD 5 million (equity or debt, not grants), and have a clear plan to secure funding within 1–2 years.
