Restoring traditions by planting one million native trees in indigenous Amazonian lands
About the Business
Reforest Peace, by Corporación Acción Verde in the Colombian Amazon ecosystem, confronts deforestation in a megadiverse, both biologically and ethnically, Amazon region, where illegal activities have degraded vital ecosystems, threatening biodiversity and peace. The initiative restores forests by planting sets replicable sets of one million native trees in the Sibundoy Valley (Department of Putumayo), partnering with the local Kämentsa indigenous community, for sustainable reforestation in agro-silvocultural arrangements. It intends to capture over 300,000 tons of CO₂, boosting biodiversity, generating local jobs, empowering communities, and women organisations, while strengthening governance by fostering economic stability, social healing, and lasting peace in these globally unique territories.
